              Vocabulary Words for Supercontinent Unit

1. Continents: The seven major areas of land on the earth, divided into countries.

2. Supercontinent: A huge landmass that broke apart and formed today's continents.

3. Landmass: A large unbroken area of land.

4. Plate tectonics: The theory that the earth's crust is made of sections which float on melted rock and move around constantly. 

5. Continental Drift:   The theory that continents are slowly drifting as tectonic plates move.

6. Fossils: The remains of a living animal or plant from long time ago embedded in earth or rock.

7. Vaalbara: The 1st supercontinent made of Australia and South Africa.

8. Pangea: The 4th supercontinent made of all continents present today.

9. Eurasia: The continent of Europe and Asia.
